School to What’s Next
“It’s exciting to see the students enthusiastic to plan their futures.”
Finding the right path after high school can be very overwhelming. In some cases, students may not even know what their options are. For students with an IEP or 504 plan, the TVS Preparation for Employment Success team is working with the North Carolina Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Pre-Employment Transitions Services (Pre-ETS) program, and local school systems to support students during high school and their transition into post-graduation.
We are going into the classrooms and teaching job exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, soft skills and post-secondary information. They are given the support and encouragement to dream about what career they might be interested in and given the work-readiness skills to help them land that dream job.

Since our students have started receiving services through Pre-ETS I have seen tremendous growth in their self-advocacy skills and self-awareness. They are beginning to learn to navigate job search websites and job training skills. They are beginning to develop a sense of potential career pathways and focus on the specific skills needed for this pathway.

How to get into the program:
A bright future starts with having the right skills to pursue what’s next, and TVS is here to support and guide students as they build an exciting future that makes the most of each student’s talents and interests.
