TVS, Dover Foods Expand Leadership Team - T-V-S Overcoming Challenges | Feeding Our World

In this period of growth and evolution, Transylvania Vocational Services (TVS) and Dover Foods are proud to announce the expansion of their leadership team. Recently, Chris Kelly, VP of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, and Mark Murphy, Chief Operating Officer (COO), joined the team, bringing expertise in quality, manufacturing, and finance.

Kelly and Murphy’s leadership aims to contribute to TVS’ mission and operational growth through initiatives focused on KPIs, employee training, and operational efficiency optimization.

“I am thrilled to have individuals of Mark’s and Chris’ leadership experience, and capabilities join the TVS Inc and Dover Foods teams during this period of growth and development,” said CEO Lora Allemeier. “We are committed to world-class manufacturing and to our mission of employing individuals with disabilities.”

Kelly brings a wealth of experience with over 40 years in the manufacturing industry, having worked with notable companies such as General Mills, Frito-Lay, and Kellogg’s. His career, which began as a machinist at a paper and plastics facility, quickly advanced to team leadership, operations management, food safety, and beyond.

His career highlights include obtaining USDA credentials at Rudolph Foods and serving as a Corporate Auditor at Kellogg’s, where he specialized in ingredient and co-manufacturer auditing. In 2014, Kelly and his wife launched LLRP Consulting, auditing food safety standards worldwide.

“TVS is a special place,” says Kelly. “In my 45 years in manufacturing, I’ve only seen one person with a cane because in mainstream America, if you can’t pass the hurdles, you don’t get the job. That’s not what I see here.”

Kelly is also passionate about sharing his knowledge and creating a fun learning environment here at TVS. As he reflects on his career, Chris draws inspiration from Stephen Covey’s Principle-Centered Leadership: “Live, Love, Laugh, and Leave a Legacy behind,” he says, adding, “I’ve done the first three, and I’m working on the last one now.”

Echoing similar thoughts to Kelly, Murphy aims to add value to TVS and Dover Foods including, the people served, and the community. “TVS is full of good people, good times, and great reasons,” reflects Murphy. “I am excited to return to TVS, I have missed the people.” Previously, Murphy worked as the TVS Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for almost five years before pursuing other career opportunities.

“It is good to be a part of something greater than a single person,” said Murphy. “TVS’ mission is not only critical for our clients and employees but for the recipients of our products around the world.”

With over 30 years’ experience in various roles including Finance, Operations, IT, HR, and Supply Chain, Murphy’s knowledge is expansive. Previously, he was the Project Manager for the Manufacturing Excellence initiative at FMC Lithium resulting in over $6 million in annual improvements.

Murphy gained expert training in Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Quality Management, and the Toyota Production System through his experience with leading companies such as Cummins and FMC Lithium. In addition, he holds a Green Belt certification in Six Sigma.

Murphy enjoys staying active during his free time, often engaging in woodworking or tending the garden. He can also be found fishing in reception free locations.

With a combined 70+ years of experience, Kelly and Murphy offer exceptional leadership and insight to TVS and Dover Foods while being committed to advancing the mission of employing individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
